The Willful Company (2002 OOBR Award Winner for Hamlet), presents the tragedy of Macbeth and dares you to spend the night with the Bard’s “Butcher and his fiend-like Queen”.
Delve into Shakespeare’s classic tale of the corrupting influence of power and re-imagine Scotland as a decaying insane asylum. King Duncan is head administrator of a paranoid and mad institution and its most exemplary patients, Macbeth and Banquo, are praised for visiting Golgotha-like horror on their enemies. The Weird Sisters – perceptive, prophetic, power players – rip apart this fragile society with a few well-chosen words. Macbeth, a man whose desire and ambition exceeds his moral grasp (and spurred on by his ever-grasping wife), is the instrument of their fury.
