About This Show

Ellen Beckerman & Company presents this contemporary staging and new, original adaptation of Shakespeare’s HAMLET. The innovative production fuses the classic tragedy with a musical score as diverse as Mozart and the hard metal rock of Fugazi. By setting the play in a timeless desert, from which each character must find a way to escape his tragic fate, this production focuses on Hamlet’s struggle against the myth of his own heroism. He searches for a way to live freely in a world that constrains him. As well, this show blends the play’s text with dance, expressionistic movement, visual effects and offbeat, striking costumes.
