Theater by the Blind, the critically acclaimed company of visually impaired and sighted theatre artists, presents American Voices, a free reading series devoted to both new work by theatre artists such as Carol Hall and Judd Woldin, as well as classic American plays by writers such as Lillian Hellman, William Inge, and William Gibson.

TUESDAYS: The plays of Lillian Hellman
11/27: ?ANOTHER PART OF THE FOREST?–Hellman?s look at the rapacious Hubbard family (20 years before ?The Little Foxes?) shows how the entire clan got to be greedy.
12/4: ?THE LITTLE FOXES? — One of Hellman?s best known works, this classic melodrama of greed, infighting and death pits Hubbard against Hubbard as the family schemes to turn their thousands into millions.
WEDNESDAYS: New Works
11/28: ?WHEN I?M 64?– TBTB Artistic Director Ike Schambelan continues to develop his play about four friends from Yale Drama facing their 60s and looking at what they?ve gained, what they?ve lost and what they carry on with them.
12/5: ?MURDER IN BAKER STREET?– This latter day Sherlock Holmes play by composer JUDD WOLDIN (?Raisin,? ?The Prince & The Pauper,? ?The King Of Schnorrers?) asks ?whodunnit? when a client is found murdered in Sherlock Holmes? own house…and Watson is accused of the crime.
12/12: ?TECHNICOLOR?– a new musical revue about various aspects of love, featuring five short plays and 5 new songs by Broadway tunesmith CAROL HALL (?The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas?).
THURSDAYS; American Classics
11/29: ?COME BACK LITTLE SHEBA?– William Inge?s (?Bus Stop?) harrowing study of marital frustration and domestic violence looks at a man who forfeits a promising future to ?do the right thing? and marry a woman he?s committed an indiscretion with. Each day the bitter resentment he feels toward his wife grows, and it?s clear that an explosion is inevitable.
12/13: ?A CRY OF PLAYERS?– William Gibson?s masterpiece brings to life the early years of a budding poet not unlike William Shakespeare. In Elizabethan England, young poet Will is a married father of three. Despite his love for his family, he?s aimless and irresponsible–until a traveling troupe of actors arrives in town and it becomes clear that Will?s ultimate destiny is far greater than he could possibly imagine.
SUNDAYS: World Classics
12./2: ?GHOSTS? — Noted American playwright Arthur Kopit (?Oh, Dad, Poor Dad…?) translated one of the great classics of world theatre. This provocative and haunting work by Henrik Ibsen (Broadway?s ?Hedda Gabler?) examines the consequences of shameful secrets and hidden fears that erupt from the past.
12/16: ?THREE SISTERS? — Acclaimed American scribe Lanford Wilson (?Fifth Of July,? ?Burn This?) studied Russian to create his translation of Anton Chekhov?s famous portrait of desire and frustration. Olga, Masha and Irena long to escape their provincial Russian town for the lights and excitement of Moscow. But with each passing moment Moscow (and the happiness it represents) seems to slip through their fingers.
