About This Show

Baruch Performing Arts Center is pleased to welcome Ensemble Moto Perpetuo under the direction of Amir Shpilman (pictured right), and Ensemble Linea for "Action Painting: The Edges of Sound", a concert of new French music composition.

The concert features Raphael Cendo’s "Action Painting" and a live interview with the composer.

Also on the program is Franck Bedrossian’s "IT", Brice Pauset’s "Vita Nova", and Philippe Leroux’s "Ami…Chemin…Oser…Vie."

The venerable Jean-Philippe Wurtz will serve as guest conductor for Ensemble Linea in the riveting "Talea" by Gerard Grisey.

With influences from saturationism, free jazz, new complexity, and more, this concert offers a unique collaboration that spans both culture and continent. Allan Kozinn in the NY Times commented on Ensemble Moto Perpetuo… "The group’s players are young enough that their names are not familiar from the rosters of other ensembles, but the performance was at a standard that suggested that some of them will become new-music regulars."
