Arooj Aftab

Arooj Aftab is a Brooklyn-based Pakistani composer, vocalist, and producer who’s “reimagining traditional South Asian music for today” (Pitchfork). Her distinctive musical dialect draws on jazz, minimalism, Hindustani classical music, and neo-Sufi sounds. In 2022, she became the first Pakistani artist to win a Grammy when she won the Best Global Music Performance award. Her latest album, Vulture Prince , has received rave reviews, earning a coveted spot on the Best Albums of 2021 lists from NPR, Time, and the Guardian, among others.
