About This Show

7, EIGHT, 9… a new play by Joe Luis Cedillo

What makes someone a criminal? Inspired by real-life events: the year is 2009 and three friends from the Valley, reeling from the economic recession, come up with a solution to their problems. This dark comedy told after, before, and during the crime they commit examines events of their deadly outing, ending with an LA Sheriff’s Detective investigation. More than an LA crime story, 7, EIGHT, 9… is a collage of the struggles of making ends meet, broken opportunities, and the burden of trying to be a man when it feels the world’s stripping you of your manhood and your hope. What choice is there when you have none? Runner-up for the Kennedy Center’s KCACTF Latino Playwriting Award.
