Murder on the Orient Express

The Picture Show at Bay Street Theatre presents a screening of the 1974 classic, Murder on the Orient Express. A stylish prestige picture based on the Agatha Christie mystery, the film tells the story of Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he attempts to solve a murder on the famous train. Albert Finney stars as the detective, and is supported by Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery and Ingrid Bergman.

Following the screening, Lauren Bacall and Director Sidney Lumet join Jeffrey Lyons for an onstage conversation about the making of the film.

Bacall’s film credits include To Have and Have Not, Blood Alley and The Mirror Has Two Faces, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award. Also, she has appeared on Broadway in Goodbye, Charlie and Cactus Flower and has won Tony Awards for her performances in the musicals Applause and Woman of the Year.

Known for his technical knowledge and his skill at getting first-rate performances from his actors, Sidney Lumet has made over 40 movies, telling intelligent, compelx stories. His credits include Stage Struck, The Fugitive Kind, 12 Angry Men, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Prince of the City, Q & A, Network, Equus, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, The Anderson Tapes, The Wiz, Deathtrap, The Verdict, A Stranger Among Us, Family Business, and, of course, Murder on the Orient Express.
