Gonzalo Roig’s Zarzuela CECILIA VALDÉS world premiere was in Havana, Cuba 1932. This zarzuela contains mixture of a traditional Cuban music with all his genres forms and vivid rhythms and dances. The storyline is based on Cirilo Villaverde’s novel about tragedy of manners, love and revenge in colonial Cuban society of the early 19th century.
