I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road

About the Show

I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road, starring Sharon Lawrence, a three-time Emmy nominee for NYPD Blue and star of Broadway’s Chicago, and directed by Broadway and Reprise! veteran Kay Cole, is a stunning collage of folk/rock and bluesy ballads that crystallize the emerging woman written by Gretchen Cryer (who also starred in the off-Broadway run with a remarkable 1165 performances) and Nancy Ford.

It is the touching and funny story of Heather, a 39-year-old pop singer attempting a career comeback. She auditions her new act for her shocked, skeptical manager who wants her to return to her old tried-and-true torch songs. But Heather has gone through the women’s awakening of the ’70’s, which has completely altered her music – and her formerly docile personality. She gradually becomes an embodiment of the outspoken, struggling woman, determined to express her real self in her own way.
