Written by Irish playwright Eugene O’Brien, Eden takes a hilarious and heartbreaking look at forbidden love. High school sweethearts Billy and Breda have been married for eleven years. In what has become a potentially idyllic routine, they still live in the same small Irish town, with the same friends, the same faces. And now that Breda has lost the baby weight, she wants more than anything for herself and Billy to be a “proper married couple again.” But her otherwise happy plan is jeopardized by Billy’s frantic desire to be noticed by Imelda Egan, the beautiful daughter of a drinking buddy. The play opens on the night that Breda decides to join Billy on his Sunday pub crawl, “the Holy Trinity.” Get ready for a hilarious and heartbreaking look at the dangers of forbidden fruit.
