A family-friendly hit since its Broadway debut in 2012, Disney’s Newsies: The Broadway Musical returns to stages across America. Based on the big-screen Disney musical released in 1992, the stage adaptation brings fresh energy to a rousing story that takes as its starting point the real events known as the Newsboys’ Strike of 1899. When New York publishing titan Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices and makes life harder for the youngsters who sell his papers, it’s up to a charismatic newsboy named Jack Kelly and female news reporter Katherine Plumber to rally the newsies.
