Gbenga Akinnagbe will star in the Intiman Theatre’s production of Sonya Schneider’s The Thin Place to run May 14 – June 13. Andrew Russell has conceived and directed the piece.

The Thin Place was inspired by Dan Savage’s podcast Return to the Scene of the Crime and is based on interviews with people about points of crisis, which caused them to question and confront their faith. Schneider has transformed disparate stories into a theatrical narrative focused around a single person — Isaac, the son of a Pentecostal minister. Doubting his father, his faith and his community and suffering from mysterious episodes, Isaac sets out on a journey to find faith — or accept God’s absence.

Akinnagbe is perhaps best known for his role as street assassin Chris Partlow on the HBO series The Wire. Among his stage credits are appearances with the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC., the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, and the LAByrinth Theater Company.
