MCC Theater’s production of Haidle’s new play is directed by Anne Kauffman.
The stars of MCC Theater's upcoming production of Noah Haidle's Smokefall met the press at their rehearsal studio on January 7. Anne Kauffman directs the drama, which runs from February 4-March 13 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Smokefall had its world premiere at Chicago's Goodman Theatre.
The company is led by Zachary Quinto (American Horror Story), alongside Robin Tunney (The Mentalist), Julia Garner (Grandma), Jon DeVries (The Apple Family Plays), and Brian Hutchison (Man and Boy). The creative team includes Mimi Lien (scenic design), David Weiner (lighting design), Asta Hostetter (costume design), and Lindsay Jones (Sound design).
The play is described as follows: "Magical realism collides with manic vaudeville in a family drama unlike any you've ever seen. The Twins swap philosophy while awaiting their birth, Beauty eats dirt and doesn't speak, Father is about to drive away and never return, and a man named Footnote acts as our guide. Whipping from astonishing tenderness to profound humor and back again, this wholly original play uncovers the extraordinary family connections we all stretch and warp across the years but can never quite break."
