Irish Repertory Theatre has announced the New York premiere of Woman and Scarecrow, a new play by Marina Carr running May 9-June 24. Opening night is set for May 20. Ciarán O'Reilly directs.

Stephanie Roth Haberle (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), Pamela Gray (The Sinner), Aidan Redmond (The Cripple of Inishmaan), and Jill Tanner (The Traveling Lady) will star in the production, directed by Irish Rep producing director Ciarán O'Reilly. The creative team will include Charlie Corcoran (set design), Whitney Locher (costume design), Michael Gottlieb (lighting design), and Ryan Rumery (sound design, original music).

Woman and Scarecrow is described as follows: "Woman is dying. Mother to eight children and wife to an unfaithful husband, she is living her final hours with Scarecrow, her alter ego — her closest confident and greatest critic — as death noisily interrupts from the sidelines. Together, the women revisit her life with biting humor and brutal honesty."
