Indecent playwright Paula Vogel will take part in a talkback following New Yiddish Rep's new production of Sholem Asch's God of Vengeance at the Theatre at St. Clement's on Thursday, March 23.

Indecent, which begins performances April 4 at Broadway's Cort Theatre, is inspired by the cultural impact of Asch's drama. Written in 1906, God of Vengeance stunned audiences and critics for its condemnation of religious hypocrisy and its graphic depiction of a love affair between a teenage woman and an older prostitute.

New Yiddish Rep's God of Vengeance originally played at La MaMa in December and January under the direction of Eleanor Reissa (who is now part of the Indecent company). The restaging of God of Vengeance is adapted and directed by Aaron Beall, with a cast that includes Shane Baker, David Mandlebaum, Luzer Twersky, Melissa Weisz, Eli Rosen, Caraid O’Brien, Shayna Schmidt, Amy Coleman, and Mira Kessler.

The production is performed in Yiddish with English supertitles.
