Company XIV has announced its 2018-19 season productions, opening with the return engagement of Ferdinand: Boylesque Bullfight (September 6-October 28).

A mix of dance and theater, Ferdinand reimagines the 1936 classic children's tale by Munro Leaf as an erotic mostly all-male baroque-burlesque spectacle. Roll around the Spanish hillside, then enjoy a bullfight in the XIV ring where our ferocious, fertile matador challenges dear Ferdinand to a duel. Will he rise to the occasion or succumb to the field of flowers?

The cast will feature Ryan Redmond as Ferdinand, Marcy Richardson as El Matador, and Laszlo Major as the Bumble Bee, along with Nicholas Katen, Scott Schneider, Ian Spring, Mark Osmundsen, and Jacoby Pruitt. The creative team includes costume and set design by Zane Pihlstrom, lighting design by Jeanette Yew, and makeup design by Sarah Cimino.

Also joining the 2018-19 season will be a holiday engagement of Company XIV's Nutcracker Rouge (November 9, 2018-January 13, 2019), a "reimaging of the beloved Nutcracker ballet told with erotic, sensual, and opulent flair."

Following in the spring will be the world premiere of of Queen of Hearts (March 29, 2019-May 5, 2019), a new production inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The piece will blend circus, opera, magic, and dance.

All productions will be directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick.
