Brian Hutchison to Join Off-Broadway Cast of Bruce Norris's Downstate for Extension of Run
Hutchison will replace original cast member Tim Hopper in the role of Andy.
Brian Hutchison (The Boys in the Band) will join the cast of Bruce Norris's acclaimed new drama Downstate at Playwrights Horizons in December, during the production's newly announced extension.
Hutchison will take on the role of Andy, a middle-aged man who shows up at a post-incarceration halfway house for convicted sex offenders, intent on confronting his childhood abuser. The role was originated off-Broadway, at Steppenwolf in Chicago, and at the National Theatre in London by Tim Hopper, who will play his final performance on Sunday, December 11. The run will now conclude on Thursday, December 22.
Directed by Pam MacKinnon, the dark comedy also features Glenn Davis (Gio), K. Todd Freeman (Dee), Francis Guinan (Fred), Tim Hopper (Andy), Eddie Torres (Felix), Susanna Guzmán (Ivy), Sally Murphy (Em), and Gabi Samels (Effie). The creative team includes Todd Rosenthal (Set Designer), Clint Ramos (Costume Designer), Adam Silverman (Lighting Designer), and Carolyn Downing (Sound Designer).
