Bedlam has announced that the company will present Romeo & Juliet and Uncle Vanya in repertory at A.R.T./New York Theatres. Performances will run September 14-October 28, with opening night set for September 25.

William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet is the iconic tragedy about two young star-crossed lovers and their feuding families. Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya tells the story of the visit of an elderly professor and his glamorous, much younger second wife, to the rural estate that supports their urban lifestyle. Bedlam artistic director Eric Tucker will direct, and casting will be announced at a later date.

Committed to the immediacy of the relationship between the actor and the audience, Bedlam "creates works of theatre that reinvigorate traditional forms in a flexible, raw space, collapsing aesthetic distance and bringing its viewers into direct contact with the dangers and delicacies of life. In this new, fresh, active environment storytelling becomes paramount and the result is a kinetic experience of shared empathy." Recent productions include Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw at the Sheen Center, Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie at the Duke on 42nd, and Sense and Sensibility by Kate Hamill at A.R.T.
