The new musical comedy A Musical About Star Wars – or Why Star Wars Is the Greatest Thing in the Galaxy, Much Much Better Than Star Trek will premiere off-Broadway at Theatre Row, with performances beginning March 14, and opening night set for May 4, a.k.a. "Star Wars Day."

A Musical About Star Wars is created by NEWSical and Naked Boys Singing! producer Tom D'Angora. It is written by D'Angora, Taylor Crousore (Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging!), and Scott Richard Foster (Gettin' the Band Back Together), and features an original score and lyrics by Billy Reece (Balloon Boy: The Musical).

Crousore, Foster, and Emily McNamara star, with additional casting soon to be announced.

The show is described as follows: "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…a Staten Island Blockbuster Video to be exact…15 year old Taylor finds himself hanging out with 25 year old clerk, Scott. Bonding over their love of THE GREATEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME (Star Wars, of course) the two formed a friendship that has brought them, present day, to the glamorous off-Broadway stage. Together the self-proclaimed 'Millennial Falcon' and 'Gen-X Winger' have created an epic musical that celebrates the magic, the fandom, and the legacy of all things Star Wars. That is, until their costar, an actress, activist, and recent graduate of AMDA, makes a startling admission. Basically, it's a show-within-a-show, it's a little meta, it's hella rad, and it will probably get overlooked by the Drama Desk nominating committee."
