You Could Be Jesus in Upcoming National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar

Do you have what it takes to play Jesus?

A worldwide search is being held to find an actor to play the title role in the upcoming 50th anniversary tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar.

Based on the Olivier Award-winning Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production, the tour will be by Timothy Sheader and choreographed by Drew McOnie, with set and costume design by Tom Scutt, lighting by Lee Curran, and music supervision by Tom Deering.

Wojcik/Seay Casting will be hosting open casting for the role of in Orlando (April 20), New Orleans (April 27), Atlanta (April 29), Dallas (May 6) and Los Angeles (May 10). The role is described as follows:

"JESUS: Vocal: Rock tenor; Chest voice B2-Bb4, powerful falsetto or scream up to G5. Between 20 and 30 years old. Must play guitar. A Jim Morrison meets Steven Tyler 'rock star' with a well-rounded, rich middle register that also has a super extended upper register with virtuosity coupled with sensitive musicianship. Addressing a group of 12 or an arena of 12,000. This role does not require dancing, but the performer must be comfortable moving."
