In an interview with, Oscar-nominated actress Melanie Griffith spilled the beans about an upcoming turn in Broadway's Pippin. When asked about upcoming projects, she said the following: "I'm going to do a lot of things. I'm going to do Pippin on Broadway in January. It's not about my career now. It's just about finding great work and having a good time."

Griffith has not named the role she will be taking on, but she would presumably enter the production as either Berthe, currently played by Tony Award winner Priscilla Lopez (A Chorus Line), or Fastrada, now performed by Tony nominee Charlotte d'Amboise. This will be the actress' second Broadway turn, having made her debut as Roxie Hart in the long-running musical Chicago in 2003, for which she received rave reviews.

The revival of Pippin opened at Broadway's Music Box Theatre on April 25, 2013. The Tony-winning production of Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's classic coming-of-age musical features the death-defying tricks of a contemporary circus with choreography by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse, and circus creations by Gypsy Snider of the circus troupe Les 7 doigts de la main.

The current cast of Pippin features Kyle Dean Massey as Pippin, Ciara Renée as the Leading Player, Tony winner John Rubinstein as Charles, and Rachel Bay Jones as Catherine.
