Westport Country Playhouse to Host Second Annual "Letters to Our Daughters" Event

Joanna Gleason, Judith Ivey, and more will help the company celebrate International Women’s Day.

Westport Country Playhouse announced the second annual Letters to Our Daughters, a free event celebrating International Women's Day, on Thursday, March 8, at 7pm. Curated by Samantha Goober and Anne Keefe, 13 women will read essays and poems written by female authors.

Farah Bala (Quantico), Danielle Davenport (Sneaky Pete), Tony Award winner Joanna Gleason (Into the Woods), Wilhelmina Hartong (writer and award-winning standup comedian), Alicia Hernandez Strong (a senior at Wesleyan University), Tony winner Judith Ivey (Hurlyburly), Susan Kelechi Watson (This Is Us), Elise Kibler (The Heidi Chronicles), Pamela Lewis (founder of Connect-Us), Aleta Mitchell (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Patricia Russo (executive director of Women's Campaign School at Yale), Najla Said (author of Looking for Palestine: Growing Up Confused in an Arab-American Family), and Pearl Sun (If/Then) will be the readers at the event.

The event's title is taken from Maya Angelou's collection of essays Letters to My Daughter.
