The first trailer for the highly anticipated film adaptation of Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County, starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, has been released. Just in time for Thanksgiving, the family drama, directed by John Wells, will hit theaters on November 8.
The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play centers a family whose lives have splintered, until a crisis brings them back together in the clan’s rambling Oklahoma farm house. Streep takes on the role of matriarch, Violet Weston, with Roberts as her eldest daughter, Barbara; Ewan McGregor as Barbara’s estranged husband, Bill; Abigail Breslin as their daughter, Jean; Juliette Lewis as Barbara’s sister, Karen; Julianne Nicholson as their sister, Ivy; Margo Martindale as Violet’s sister, Mattie Fae; Chris Cooper as Mattie Fae’s husband, Charles; Benedict Cumberbatch as Little Charles; Sam Shepard as Beverly Weston; Misty Upham as Johnna; and Dermot Mulroney as Steve.
