Based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress is about Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage.
When it opened in April 2016, Waitress became the first Broadway musical to have four women in the four top creative team spots, with a book by Jessie Nelson, a score by Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro, and direction by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus.
For the tour, Abbey O’Brien re-creates the direction and choreography. The tour also includes scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Suttirat Anne Larlarb, lighting design by Ken Billington, sound design by Brian Walters, hair design by Bernie Ardia, music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo, arrangements by DiGiallonardo and Bareilles, and orchestrations by Bareilles and the Waitress Band.
