Vanessa Williams will play Miranda Priestly in a newly reimagined version of the Devil Wears Prada musical, debuting at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on July 9, 2024 ahead of a West End premiere at the Dominion Theatre beginning October 24.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the 2006 movie starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, The Devil Wears Prada follows Andy, a journalist who takes on a job at a fashion magazine overseen by vicious editor Miranda Priestly. With a score by Elton John and Shaina Taub and a book by Kate Wetherhead, the UK premiere will have directon and choreography by Jerry Mitchell. Mitchell’s creative team includes Tim Hatley (sets), Gregg Barnes (costumes), Bruno Poet (lighting), and Gareth Owen (sound).

The Devil Wears Prada premiered in 2022 at the Nederlander Theatre in Chicago, in a production directed by Anna D. Shapiro and choreographed by James Alsop. Mixed-to-negative reviews led to a jettisoning of Shapiro, her creative team, and cast, which was led by Beth Leavel as Miranda and Taylor Iman Jones as Andy.
