Film and stage star Val Kilmer will present two workshop performances of his one-man show Citizen Twain, October 19 and 20 at Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles.

In the show, which is also written and directed by Kilmer, he explores Twain’s wry humor as well as his successes and the tragedies of his later life, which included bankruptcy and a soul-searching feud with Christian Science founder Mary Baker Eddy.

Kilmer’s stage credits include playing Moses in a musical version of The Ten Commandments in Los Angeles and Off-Broadway roles in Slab Boys, Henry IV Part 1, ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, and How It All Began.

His many film credits include Heat, Tombstone, Batman Forever, Alexander, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
