American Theater Company has announced its 2011-2012 season.
The company will begin the year with Jessica Dickey’s The Amish Project, which examines the aftermath of the tragic 2006 shooting in a small community in Pennsylvania. P.J. Paparelli will direct the production, which will feature Sadieh Rifai.
The theater’s season will also include W. Garace’s production of It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play, an adaptation of Frank Capra’s classic film; Patrick Meyers’ K2, which looks at two climbers trapped at the top of the world’s most treacherous mountain, to be directed by Jaime Castañeda and feature Usman Ally and Kareem Bandealy; and Tennesee Williams’ unproduced Escape, which examines three different looks at what it means to escape from America. Paparelli will direct this latter production, which will have choreography by Paula Franz of DanceLoop Chicago.
In addition, as recently reported, the company will co-produce Jonathan Larson’s award-winning Rent with About Face Theater.
