Unknown Soldier, by Michael Friedman, to Have Premiere

The musical, written with Daniel Goldstein, was one of Friedman’s final projects.

Playwrights Horizons has announced its 2019-20 season.

The new slate of shows kicks off in August with the world premiere of Wives, by Jaclyn Backhaus. Margot Bordelon directs the play in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. In September on the Mainstage, Playwrights will premiere Heroes of the Fourth Turning by WIll Arbery, directed by Danya Taymor. Lucas Hnath's The Thin Place, directed by Les Waters, will run in the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre beginning in November.

February 2020 will see the New York premiere of Unknown Soldier, one of the final musicals by the late composer/lyricist Michael Friedman. Featuring a book and lyrics by Daniel Goldstein, the production will be directed by Trip Cullman. Sylvia Khoury's Selling Kabul, directed by Tyne Rafaeli, will begin performances in March 2020 in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

Jeremy O. Harris's A Boy's Company Presents: "Tell Me If I'm Hurting You," will have its world premiere in May 2020 on the Mainstage.
