Tom Cavanagh, star of the NBC-TV series Ed, will be taking over the role of Bobby Strong in Broadway’s Urinetown beginning May 20. He’ll succeed Charlie Pollock, who will play his last performance on May 18.

Cavanagh will join Broadway veteran John Cullum (with whom he appeared in the 1989 Broadway revival of Shenandoah), Carolee Carmello (Kiss Me, Kate, Parade), Tony-nominated Spencer Kayden, Jeff McCarthy (Side Show), and Jennifer Laura Thompson (Little Fish) in the show that won 2002 Tony Awards for Best Direction, Best Book, and Best Score.

In his review of Urinetown for TheaterMania, Greg Bauer wrote: “What this show is about is really beside the point; Urinetown proves that good writing and excellent performances can make any subject smell like a million bucks.”
