Chicago's Goodman Theatre has announced that Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Gattelli (Newsies) has joined the creative team of War Paint, a new musical starring two-time Tony Award winners Patti LuPone (Evita) and Christine Ebersole (Grey Gardens). The production is set to begin performances June 28 and run through August 7 with an opening night on July 18.

Featuring a book by Doug Wright, score by Scott Frankel and Michael Korie, and direction by Michael Greif, War Paint will reunite Ebersole with the creative team behind the musical Grey Gardens. Inspired by Lindy Woodhead's book War Paint, as well as Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman's PBS documentary The Powder & the Glory, the show examines the ascent and rivalry of Helena Rubenstein and Elizabeth Arden, whose 50-year tug-of-war gave birth to an industry. LuPone will take on the role of Rubenstein, and Ebersole will play Arden.

Gattelli, who won the 2012 Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for his choreography of Newsies, returns to the Goodman, where he choreographed Mary Zimmerman’s stage adaptation of Disney’s The Jungle Book (2013).
