Tony winner Daisy Eagan will join host Patrick Hinds for a live recording of his podcast, Theater People, on Monday, September 19, at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Hinds will chat with Eagan about her Tony-winning turn in The Secret Garden, which, at 11 years old, made her the youngest actress ever to win the award for Featured Actress.
The evening is described as follows: "In 1991 Daisy Eagan became the youngest female Tony Award winner (a distinction she still holds) for her turn as Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden. To many, she was living a dream, but for Daisy, childhood and stardom were both very complicated. For the interview portion of the evening, Daisy will share memories from the original The Secret Garden, discuss how being a part of that production sheltered her from tragic events in her own childhood and, 25 years later, what has drawn her back to the show in the out-of-town production that many hope will make it to Broadway. The evening will conclude with Daisy performing two (or more) songs with music director Drew Wutke."
Following her turn as Martha in the Lincoln Center concert production of The Secret Garden earlier this year, Eagan will reprise the role of Mary's caretaker for a coproduction with Washington, D.C.'s Shakespeare Theatre Company and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. Performances at Shakespeare Theatre Company will run from November 15-December 31, followed by a run at 5th Avenue Theatre from April 14-May 6, 2017.
