Tony nominee Tony Sheldon (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) has been announced as the newest cast member of the New York City Center Encores! special presentation of The Band Wagon. He takes on the role of egotistical British director Jeffrey Cordova, replacing Roger Rees, who is no longer available for the production. The Band Wagon will play 12 performances, from November 6-16.

As previously announced, Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will star as Tony Hunter, a Hollywood star who decides to make his big-time comeback in a Broadway musical, which ends up having an inept creative team.

The company will also feature Laura Osnes as Gabrielle Gerard, the leading lady who's never done a show before; Michael McKean and Tracy Ullman as bickering songwriting team Lester and Lily Martin; Michael Berresse as choreographer Paul Byrd; and Don Stephenson as Hal Meadows.

Featuring a new book by Douglas Carter Beane and inspired by the screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the show is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, with musical direction by Todd Ellison. The production features sets by Derek McLane, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski, and sound design by Brian Ronan.

The songs featured in the score include "Dancing in the Dark," "By Myself," "I Guess I'll Have to Change My Plan," "A Shine on My Shoes," and the show-business anthem "That's Entertainment."
