Ogunquit Playhouse has announced the full cast and creative team for Ain’t Too Proud, running May 14-June 13.
The musical stars Tony Award nominee Charl Brown as Otis Williams, Warren Egypt Franklin as Melvin Franklin, Blaine Alden Krauss as Eddie Kendricks, Josh Marin as David Ruffin, and Justin Showell as Paul Williams.
The cast also includes Stephen Cerf, Tymothee Harrell, Antonio King, Kyle Kobetsky, Kris Lyons, Rodney McKinner III, Felicia Martis, Alexandria Reese, Owen Scales, Joey Stone, Brett Sturgis, Justin Terrell, and Khalifa White.
Directed by Gerry McIntyre with choreography by Rachelle Rak, the production features music supervision by Kenny Seymour, music direction by Seth Farber, original scenic design by Robert Brill, original costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Richard Latta, sound design by Kevin Heard, wig/hair and make-up design by Roxanne De Luna, and projection design by Peter Nigrini.
Featuring a book by Dominique Morisseau, based on the book The Temptations by Otis Williams with Patricia Romanowski, Ain’t Too Proud follows The Temptations’ rise from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Music and lyrics are from the Legendary Motown Catalog, including “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”
