Theater Veterans Receive 2016 Oscar Nominations

See which Broadway folks have been honored with nods for their work on-screen in the past year.

Nominations for this year's Oscars have been announced, and a whole slew of stage vets have seen their names on the list.

In the leading actor category are Bryan Cranston (All the Way) for Trumbo and Eddie Redmayne (Red) for The Danish Girl. Cate Blanchett (The Maids) for Carol and Saoirse Ronan (Arthur Miller's The Crucible) for Brooklyn are in the leading actress list.

The supporting actor category includes Mark Ruffalo (Awake and Sing!) for Infinitely Polar Bear, Mark Rylance (the upcoming Nice Fish) for Bridge of Spies, and Sylvester Stalone (Rocky) for Creed. Jennifer Jason Leigh (The House of Blue Leaves) fills out the list of theater veterans with a nomination in the supporting actress category for The Hateful Eight.

The 88th annual Academy Award ceremony will take place on February 28.
