Yasmina Reza’s play begins at the Tina Packer Playhouse tonight.
The Unexpected Man starts its run at Shakespeare & Company tonight.
The play is set in a train compartment on the journey between Paris and Frankfurt. A middle-aged man, a famous author, in fact, sits opposite a middle-aged woman. She, it turns out, is his biggest fan, and contemplates the intricacies and dilemma of reading his own latest book in front of him. The stripped down play explores intimacy, celebrity, and second chances.
The show is written by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, and directed by Seth Gordon. The cast included Corinna May and John Woodson, who play Woman and Man.
Performances will run through September 6.
