The New Group Honors Chloë Sevigny and Kumiko Yoshii at Annual Gala

The New Group held its annual gala on Monday, March 12, honoring Chloë Sevigny and Kumiko Yoshii with the 2018 Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater.

Guests for the evening included Kate Buddeke, Lucy DeVito, Josh Hamilton, Ed Harris, Charlotte Hope, David Levi, Amy Madigan, Rileigh McDonald, Sadie Scott, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Lily Thorne, with gala appearances by Jennifer Allen, Sean Patrick Doyle, Brad Greer, Luke Grooms, Billy Hepfinger, Beth Kirkpatrick, Kim Steele, John Gore, Rhea Perlman, and Tony Yazbeck, among others.

The Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater was established in 2005 to recognize individuals who show outstanding commitment to the theatrical community. Past recipients include Sutton Foster, Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Jonathan Marc Sherman, David Rabe, Wallace Shawn, and Ethan Hawke, among others.

The New Group is currently represented off-Broadway with Good for Otto, playing through April 8, and Jerry Springer — The Opera, playing through April 1. Both shows run at the Pershing Square Signature Center.
