Scheuer will revive his solo musical on April 30 for one night only.
Singer-songwriter Benjamin Scheuer has released a seven-inch vinyl featuring two new songs, "Hello Jemima" and "Silent Giants." The tracks were produced by Geoff Kraly and, in addition to Scheuer on vocals and guitar, feature Chris Morrisey (bass), Josh Dion (drums), and Julian Pollock (keyboard).
Additionally, as previously announced, Scheuer will revive his solo musical The Lion as a one-night-only benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on April 30 at the Sheen Center.
In The Lion, which Scheuer wrote and performs, he and his supporting cast of six guitars tell, sing, and play the turbulent story of his family and his own brush with mortality. Sean Daniels directed the original production.
The Lion premiered off-Broadway in 2015 and won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance. Following the New York engagement, the show moved to London and received an Off-West End Award for Best New Musical. Scheuer played more than 500 performances in 13 cities during a cross-country tour that ended at the Geffen Playhouse in February 2017.
Both "Hello Jemima" and "Silent Giants" are now available for streaming and sharing on digital platforms.
