The Araca Group has announced the six original works that will be produced as part of the annual Araca Project, an initiative that aims to foster young entrepreneurs from Syracuse University, the University of Michigan, Florida State University, and Northwestern University. Performances begin September 3rd at The American Theatre for Actors in New York City.

This year’s productions will include the plays American Games by Kevin Slack, The Memory Tax by Chad Eschman, and Breaking Heels by Bryn Lagoni as well as The Rock and the Ripe, a research-based exploration of gay bullying among America’s youth. The project will also include the theatre dance event [PRESS PLAY] and a sketch/variety show fresh from Chicago entitled All of Our Feelings at Once.

The Araca Project endeavors to embolden these artists to recognize the power of the entrepreneurial spirit in shaping one’s artistic destiny. After pitching projects in April, selected participants spent a week of June in a producing intensive program in NYC to prepare for productions in the fall.
