Producer Jeff Berger has announced casting for A Little Night Music in Concert, which will perform at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall June 27-29. The concert will feature brand new orchestrations by Stephen Sondheim’s trusted collaborator Jonathan Tunick, who will conduct the 53-piece Orchestra of St. Luke’s.

“A life in the theater comes with few reliable constants,” said Tunick in a press statement, “but the ever-decreasing size of theater orchestras has been a discouraging trend across my five decades on Broadway. Whenever I’m asked to re-orchestrate one of my shows, the purpose is to make the orchestra smaller as well as hidden from the audience.  How refreshing to have this rare opportunity to present Sondheim’s score in its full symphonic glory!”

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler, and orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, A Little Night Music is the story of love and infidelity in turn-of-the-century Sweden. John Doyle, who helmed the last off-Broadway revival of Sondheim’s Assassins, has adapted and will directed this production.

Opera star Susan Graham will lead the cast as the fading great lady of the stage, Desiree Armfeldt. Graham originated the role of Sister Helen Prejean in Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, and returned to the opera in a different role for the production that opened this season at the Met. She will sing what is perhaps the most well-known Sondheim ballad, “Send in the Clowns.”

Joining Graham onstage will be Cynthia Erivo (Petra), Ron Raines (Fredrik Egerman), Kerstin Anderson (Anne Egerman), Jonathan Christopher (Mr. Erlanson), Jason Gotay (Henrik Egerman) , Ellie Fishman (Mrs. Nordstrom), Jin Ha (Frid), Addie Harrington (Fredrika Armfeldt), Shuler Hensley (Count Carl Magnus), Samantha Hill (Mrs. Segstrom), Andrea Jones-Sojola (Mrs. Anderson), Ross Lekites (Mr. Lindquist), Marsha Mason (Madam Armfeldt), and Ruthie Ann Miles (Countess Charlotte).

The creative team for A Little Night Music In Concert includes vocal direction by Rob Berman, lighting design by Ken Billington, and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier. The associate producer is Michael Harrington and the consulting producer is Ted Chapin.

Tickets go on sale March 26 at 10am.
