The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is playing at the Palace Theatre.
Lonny Price's new Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard, starring three-time Tony winner Glenn Close, has extended its run at the Palace Theatre through June 25. The musical opened on February 9.
Close returns to the role of Norma Desmond, which she originated on Broadway in 1994, alongside Michael Xavier (Joe Gillis), Siobhan Dillon (Betty Schaefer), and Fred Johanson (Max von Mayerling). The cast also features Nancy Anderson, Mackenzie Bell, Preston Truman Boyd, Barry Busby, Britney Coleman, Julian Decker, Anissa Felix, Drew Foster, David Hess, Brittney Johnson, Katie Ladner, Stephanie Martignetti, Lauralyn McClelland, T. Oliver Reid, Lance Roberts, Stephanie Rothenberg, Graham Rowat, Paul Schoeffler, Andy Taylor, Sean Thompson, Matt Wall, and Jim Walton.
Sunset Boulevard features a Tony-winning score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Tony-winning book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. Based on the classic 1950 film of the same title, Sunset Boulevard follows Norma Desmond, a washed-up silent-film star, who lives in a dilapidated mansion on Sunset Boulevard. When she encounters a young screenwriter named Joe Gillis, she sees him as her opportunity to make a comeback to the silver screen. Close's performance as the iconic Desmond earned her a third Tony Award.
