Studio Theatre Announces If I Forget Casting; The Children to Round Out 40th Season

Studio Theatre has announced casting for its 2018-19 season-opening production of Steven Levenson's If I Forget, a DC premiere beginning performances September 12. Directed by Matt Torney, the family drama set in 2000 centers on the dynamics of a modern Jewish family in DC's Tenleytown neighborhood. Brought together by their elderly father's 75th birthday, the adult children of the Fischer family squabble over what to do with their long-held and now lucrative 14th Street property, igniting debates on religion, politics, and history.
The cast will feature Richard Fancy as Lou, Susan Rome as Holly, Jonathan Goldstein as Michael, Robin Abramson as Sharon, Julie-Ann Elliott as Ellen, Paul Morella as Howard, and Joshua Otten as Joey. The creative team includes set design by Deb Booth, costume design by Helen Huang, lighting design by Michael Giannitti, sound design and original compositions by Nick Kourtides, Lauren Halvorsen (dramaturg), Allie Roy (stage manager), Laura Stanczyk (casting), Mary Alex Staude (assistant stage manager), John King (assistant director), and Mari Andrea Travis (assistant dramaturg).
Studio Theatre has additionally announced that Lucy Kirkwood's Tony-nominated play The Children will round out its 40th anniversary season, beginning May 1, 2019, in Studio's Metheny Theatre. Artistic director David Muse will helm the DC-premiere production.
Inspired in part by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear explosion in Japan, Kirkwood's disaster drama begins as an old love triangle flaring to life in the aftermath of a natural disaster and morphs into a disquieting look at the cataclysmic impact of human intervention in the natural world.
