According to published reports, Sting will star in the Toronto premiere of his musical The Last Ship, running at the Princess of Wales Theatre February 9, 2019-March 24, 2019. He will play Jackie White, a role he also played at the tail end of its short-lived Broadway premiere back in 2014-15.

Sting is also the composer and lyricist of the musical, which will be presented in Toronto with the new book by Lorne Campbell that was unveiled in a recent UK tour. (John Logan and Brian Yorkey wrote the book for the Broadway version.)

The Last Ship tells the story of Gideon Fletcher, a young man from the English seafaring town of Wallsend, who leaves his life behind to travel the world — only to return a decade later to find out that what he deserted is more than he ever could have imagined.
