Florida Studio Theatre has announced casting for their production of contemporary rock musical Next to Normal, November 2-January 7, in the Keating Theatre. Richard Hopkins will direct.
Next to Normal is an emotional powerhouse of a musical about a suburban American family trying to take care of themselves and each other. It features music by Tom Kitt, with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. In 2010, it won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Broadway veteran Stacia Fernandez will lead the cast in the role of Diana, with the company also including Leo Daignault as Dan, Ashley Picciallo as Natalie, Mike Backes as Gabe, James LaRosa as Henry, and Scott Guthrie in the roles of Dr. Fine and Dr. Madden.
The creative team will include Aimee Radics as music director, Dale Jordan as scenic designer, Sara J. Hinkley as costume designer, David M. Upton as lighting designer, Eric Stahlhammer as sound designer, and Stephen Hope, who will assist with musical staging.
