
Harry McEntire, Tom Sturridge, Jessica Raine, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes have been cast in Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens’ new play Punk Rock. Directed by Sarah Frankcom, the production will run at the Lyric Hammersmith from September 3-26.
Stephens’ drama follows a group of young people in their final year together at an English grammar school. His play On The Shore of the Wide World won the 2006 Olivier Award for Best New Play. Among his other plays are Harper Regan, Sea Wall, and Motortown, which was awarded Best International Play in Germany’s Theater Heute magazine.
In addition to McEntire (Spring Awakening), Sturridge (Richard Curtis’ The Boat That Rocked), Raine (Gethsemane at the National), and Lloyd-Hughes (Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat at the National), the company of Punk Rock will include Nicholas Banks, Sophie Wu, Katie West, and Ghazaleh Golpira.
