Spring Awakening Creator Duncan Sheik and More Honored at 2016 NYMF Gala

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as the New York Musical Theater Festival, held its 2016 gala on November 13 at the Edison Ballroom. Hosted by Mo Rocca, the event honored Tony- and Grammy-winning composer and lyricist Duncan Sheik, casting director Tara Rubin, and former NYMF board member and treasurer Frank Troutman.

The evening included performances by Darren Ritchie (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins), Sierra Boggess (School of Rock), Bryce Pinkham (Holiday Inn), Karen Ziemba (Bullets Over Broadway), Lauren Pritchard (Spring Awakening), Treshelle Edmond (Spring Awakening), Dave Thomas Brown (American Pyscho), and Molly Gordon (Animal Kingdom). David Alpert directed, with musical direction by David Dabbon.
