Zachary Levi, Krysta Rodriguez, and the company of Broadway’s First Date will head into the recording studio today, August 12, to lay down tracks for the new musical’s upcoming cast recording. Produced by Michael Croiter and Dominic Amendum, the album will be released on the Yellow Sound Label in the fall of 2013.

Written by Alan Zachary, Michael Weiner, and Austin Winsberg, First Date follows a mismatched couple (Levi and Rodriguez) as they embark on a blind date and contend with the ghosts of their past, which spring to life in their memory. The company also includes Sara Chase, Kristoffer Cusick, Blake Hammond, Kate Loprest, and Bryce Ryness, as well as Eric Ankrim, Kevin Kern, Vicki Noon, and Sydney Shepherd.

First Date was originally coproduced by the 5th Avenue Theatre and A Contemporary Theatre in Seattle. Bill Berry serves as director, with Josh Rhodes as choreographer, August Eriksmoen as orchestrator, and Dominick Amendum as musical supervisor and vocal/incidental arranger. It opened at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre on August 8.
