Signature Theatre has announced its 2018-19 season. Six works will be featured, including one world-premiere musical by the company's first musical theater writer-in-residence, Dave Malloy (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812).

Malloy's world premiere will be Octet April 30-June 9, 2019, which is described as follows: "Featuring a score for an a cappella chamber choir and an original libretto inspired by internet comment boards, scientific debates, religious texts, and Sufi poetry, Octet explores addiction and nihilism within the messy context of 21st-century technology." Annie Tippe will direct the production.

The season will also include new productions of older plays by Lynn Nottage (Fabulation, or The Re-Education of Undine, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz; and By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, directed by Kamilah Forbes), Will Eno (Thom Pain (based on nothing), directed by Oliver Butler), Athol Fugard (Boesman and Lena), and the late Sam Shepard (Curse of the Starving Class, directed by Terry Kinney).
