MCC Theater has announced an extension for School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play. The show will now play through December 9 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, beyond its originally scheduled end date of November 25.

School Girls is written by Jocelyn Bioh and directed by Tony winner Rebecca Taichman. The play had its world premiere at MCC in November 2017 and returns this season for an encore production.

The story is described as follows: "In School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play, Paulina, the reigning Queen Bee at Ghana's most exclusive boarding school, has her sights set on the Miss Universe pageant. But the arrival of Ericka, a new student with undeniable talent and beauty, captures the attention of the pageant recruiter — and Paulina's hive-minded friends. This buoyant and biting comedy explores the universal similarities (and glaring differences) facing teenage girls across the globe. How far would you go to be queen bee?"

The cast features original cast members including MaameYaa Boafo, Paige Gilbert, Abena Mensah-Bonsu, Lortel Award winner Mirirai Sithole, and Myra Lucretia Taylor, along with three new cast members, Latoya Edwards, Joanna A. Jones, and Zenzi Williams.
