Russell Hornsby, Kristolyn Lloyd, John Douglas Thompson, and More Cast in Seven Guitars at LCT

Lincoln Center Theater has announced the full cast and creative for the off-Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Seven Guitars, which is set to begin preview performances on November 5 ahead of an official opening night November 23.

Set in 1940s Pittsburgh, Seven Guitars tells the story of blues musician Floyd “Schoolboy” Barton, a man whose life is pieced together through stories told by friends, creating a portrait of Black masculinity and ambition in the middle of the 20th century.

Russell Hornsby, who last appeared on Broadway in Wilson’s Fences, will lead the cast as Floyd. He will be joined by Chanté Adams as Ruby, Jason Dirden as Canewell, Kristolyn Lloyd as Vera, Michael Potts as Red Carter, Roslyn Ruff as Louise, and John Douglas Thompson as Hedley. Taylor Elise Jackson, Warner Miller, Simone Moore, and Kevyn Morrow round out the cast as understudies.

Ruben Santiago-Hudson, who won his first Tony Award for his performance as Canewell in the 1996 Broadway premiere of Seven Guitars, directs the production, with a creative team that includes Kenneth L. Roberson (choreography), Michael Carnahan (scenic design), Karen Perry (costume design), Rui Rita (lighting design), Justin Ellington (sound design), Nikiya Mathis (hair & wig design), and Junior Mack (original music). Zachry Bailey will serves as the stage manager.
