Summer L. Williams directs the family comedy in Boston.
Lyric Stage Company has announced the cast and creative team for its upcoming production of Robert O'Hara's Barbecue. Directed by Summer L. Williams, performances will run April 7-May 7, with an official April 9 opening.
The story is described as follows: "In Barbecue, the O’Mallery family gather in their local park to share some barbecue and straight talk with their sister. They are the kind of family that comes to an intervention armed with a Taser, even though their own downward spirals rival hers. But that’s only the beginning as familial and cultural stereotypes are stripped away."
The cast will feature Ramona Lisa Alexander, Sarah Elizabeth Bedard, Lyndsay Allyn Cox, Bryan T. Donovan, Jackie Davis, Adrianne Krstansky, Deb Martin, James R. Milord, Christine Power, and Jasmine Rush.
The creative team includes scenic design by Jessica Pizzuti, costume design by Tyler Kinney, lighting design by Jen Rock, and sound design by David Wilson.
Barbecue had its world premiere at the Public Theater in 2015, directed by Kent Gash.
